Royal entertainment Catching a show after dinner is traditional for a reason it's the perfect way to relax following a five-course meal and a busy day of cruising. Simply stroll down to Follies, find a banquette, and enjoy the performance. Comedians, crooners, and cabarets are ready to make the evening memorable. The Sovereign's own song and dance troupe, the "Wave Revue," put on extravagant productions that are part Broadway musical and part Las Vegas floorshow.
Viking Crown Lounge
360° views. So you spent all day by the pool enjoying the sun and sea. For you the ever-present ocean is the best part about cruising. Well, you're going to love the Viking Crown. A hallmark of the Royal Caribbean fleet, this panoramic lounge encircles the ship's funnel. Surrounded by glass paneling, this unique area offers views of the water and glimpses of distant islands. There's no better place to witness a Bahamian sunset than from the Viking Crown Lounge.
Casino Royale
Bright lights, big ship. You're going to need some money to spend in port (your cruise card will get you smiles but no merchandise - except in RCI's private isle of CocoCay). If you don't have a clue what you're doing in a casino, the Sovereign's staff offers free gambling lessons, and quick learners can teach themselves from easy to follow instructional pamphlets. Hundreds of slot machines surround tables for playing blackjack, Caribbean stud poker, roulette, and craps.
The Music Man Disco
Get down! (Now get back up again. You're children are laughing at you.) This room may be new to veterans who cruised on the Sovereign a few years ago. The ship's old disco was converted to the Adventure Ocean and FantaSeas area. A secondary lounge became the new shipboard hot spot. So hit the floor and get down to your favorite dance songs. The DJ (perhaps the real music man) keeps the place hopping with tunes from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Musical theme nights include a 50's and 60's sock hop.
Cinemas
Not one, but two movie theaters enhance your entertainment options. Catch a flick that you missed the first time around. After a busy day of lounging in the sun, a movie is the perfect thing to help you rest up for a night of dancing. So head on down to the B Deck and bask in the light of the silver screen. After all, wouldn't you rather watch a movie in the theater, than in your cabin?
Schooner Bar
Is that gunpowder I smell? There's a reason this piano bar has become hallmark of the fleet. It's the best place to enjoy an evening cocktail and quiet conversation. Of course, when the pianist is performing you'll only have ears for your favorite numbers, never mind the chitchat. The subtle nautical theme is enhanced by a sea-worthy décor. Dark wood paneling accented with gold and blue furniture proves that you don't have to be swanky to be sophisticated.
Touch of Class Champagne Bar
The name says it all If its suave and style your looking for, go no further. Possibly the most elegant room on the ship, frosted glass panels divided the leather furniture into intimate conversation areas. Stroll down to the Champagne Bar every evening for an aperitif and hot hors d'oeuvres. Forego the post-dinner show, and wile away the hours clinking glass after glass of your favorite wine.
Finian's Rainbow Lounge
Dance like Fred Astaire. (Or Fred Flintstone.) From ballroom to polka, Finian's Rainbow was designed for cruisers who want to dance the good old-fashioned way. There's no better end to the evening than cutting the rug to a live combo. During the day this central lounge is a great place to sit and enjoy the passing parade of cruise life. Of course, an art auction or napkin-folding lesson may distract you from people watching.
Pool Bar
Lounging in the sun isn't the same without a refreshing beverage. Order a cocktail to sip on the water's edge.
Mast Bar
Beat the heat with the tasty drink of your choice. This open-air bar sits on the top deck and supplies those who want to feel the sea breeze in their hair and the Bahamian sun on their faces.
