Nobody can beat the Mariner and her sister ships for entertainment variety – no one. The singular reason for this is that there’s no other class of ships afloat that offers a professional ice show! The venue is Studio B and it’s an “E” ticket event (yet there’s no additional cost to guests). The ice is open for the passengers, too, and there’s no need to lug your ice skates to the ship – they’re available for rent at no extra charge.

The main entertainment venue is the three-tier Theater. This is not your typical hotel lounge affair but a real theater with comfortable seating, a massive stage, and top-notch technology and production capability. Our only suggestion: try to avoid the seats at the very rear on Deck 3. Even though the sight lines throughout the theater are excellent, the noise from the bar (ice-crushing blenders, martini-shaking, etc.) can be distracting.

Think of the ship’s Viking Crown Lounge as the Mariner’s tiara. This crowning achievement is their hallmark – only now on steroids. Once an intimate hideaway with 360-degree views, the single room has morphed with each successive Royal Caribbean class of ships to a multi-room complex: the Viking Crown Lounge overlooking the ship’s main pools, Crow’s Nest, Seven Hearts (the card room), a Jazz Club, the 19th Hole, and Cloud Nine.

The list of other entertainment options includes Dragon’s Lair, the two-level disco; Royal Caribbean’s always-popular hallmark, the nautical-themed Schooner Bar; the ultra-spacious Casino Royale; Bolero’s – a lounge with a fun, Latin beat; a sports bar; the Gaming Arcade; the line’s always-elegant Champagne Bar; and the Pool, Solarium, and Sky Bars. Book yourself into a suite and you’ve got the added benefit of the “private” Concierge Club, too.

No doubt about it – you won’t be hurting for bars and entertainment onboard the Mariner of the Seas.
