Mariner of the Seas - Fitness & Spa

Royal Caribbean philosophy is this: a cruise isn’t necessarily the traditional, laze-about-on-deck kind of vacation it used to be. Onboard the Mariner you should be able keep up with whatever your regular exercise consists of, and maybe add something to the mix – something that maybe you’ll incorporate into your regular fitness, health, and beauty regimen back home.

You can find health and fitness areas on three different decks aboard the Mariner. The Shipshape Fitness Center and Spa features three, distinct sections: a spacious gym with state-of-the-art resistance exercise equipment (free weights and machines); a beautifully-equipped cardio room (stationary cycles, treadmills and the like); and a large floor devoted entirely for aerobics, yoga, stretching, and flexibility routines.

The Mariner’s Spa focuses on your three basic “Rs” – rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. A massage, a body-wrap, or a body-toning session, or maybe a dip in the Thalassotherapy pool (you don’t have to pronounce it to enjoy it) could be just the thing your body needs. Of course, the standard list of treatments are onboard too – facials, manicures, pedicures, and a complete hair styling salon. Prices are generally what you’d expect to pay shoreside.

Imagine yourself ice skating in the Caribbean. Unusual, right? Now imagine yourself ice skating on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Unreal – yet it’s happening every day onboard a Royal Caribbean ship, including this giant Mariner of the Seas. No need to pack your ice skates – the Mariner has them available for free at Studio B, their fabulous ice skating rink! The venue also puts on a sensational ice show (no extra charge!) during your cruise.

Other avenues of fitness and fun for the sports enthusiasts include the Mariner’s full-size Sports Court, where you can serious basketball or volleyball competition. There’s also a marked jogging track (get your cardio in early…by 10am the track is competing with deck chairs); a small inline skating track and Mariner Dunes – the ship’s surprisingly challenging putting course. Oh, and the mother of all fitness challenges, the Rock Climbing Wall!
