| QUEEN MARY 2 | CUNARD | | CUNARD - QUEEN MARY 2: 82-Night "2007 World Voyage" Round the World - Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Lauderdale |
  | |
 |
Untitled Document
From the most famous purveyors of ocean liners comes the most anticipated
ship in modern times - the supremely elegant, beautifully designed Queen
Mary 2. The accolades continue to come as this vessel, widely touted as
the biggest, longest, tallest, widest and most expensive ever, continues
to her transatlantic, Caribbean, European and South America journeys. If
you've missed the media coverage, here's a summary:
- She's big! At 150,000 tons, Queen Mary is currently the largest
ocean liner ever built - and at a pricey $800 million - the most expensive.
By almost every measure, she's superlative.
- She's luxurious! Elegant, 5-star dining rooms (ten restaurants
in all!); beautifully appointed show rooms; a full-service "Canyon
Ranch SpaClub;" a spacious "Winter Garden;" five pools,
$5 million worth of art commissioned just for her; and much more.
- She's spacious! Every stateroom measures at least 194 square
feet - far above the industry average. Most staterooms offer a private
balcony; and the suites! - fit for royalty (and frequently reserved
for them, as well)! Plus, there are over thirty public rooms
aboard the QM2 - from the giant Royal Court Theatre to the intimate
Commodore Club.
- She's fast! The QM2 moves - quickly. Her hull and mighty engines
have been designed to slice through the sea at speeds up to 30 knots
- almost 35 mph!
- She's unique! No other ship afloat offers the features and
facilities of the QM2: the only seagoing planetarium; the largest library
afloat; the largest ballroom afloat; and the only "Veuve Clicquot
Champagne Bar" and Todd English Restaurant at sea!
Call her luxurious, call her unique, but don't call her a cruise ship;
the QM2 is an ocean liner! The distinction is an important one as
this ship is as tough as she is beautiful - well-stabilized and tough enough
to handle the often rough waters of the North Atlantic. And her wealth of
shipboard facilities and activities (including a cultural enrichment program
with 7 classrooms and a 500-seat auditorium with classes ranging from fashion
to foreign languages) promises there's more to do than time to do it! |
