Untitled Document
Veendam, as with all Holland America ships, offers the luxury of space.
On average, Veendam accommodates 25% fewer guests than comparably-sized
ships and provides staterooms which are 25% larger than the competition.
This alone makes this ship a strong contender among other mid-size cruise
ships. But Holland America nudged the Veendam up a notch or two when they
launched their fleet wide "Signature of Excellence" initiative.
For an impressive $225 dollar investment, every ship - Veendam in the spring
of 2006 - received updates to virtually every area of the ship, from stateroom
linens to passenger enrichment programs.
- Staterooms. Plush Sealy® Euro-top mattresses with 250-count
cotton bed linens; extra-fluffy Egyptian cotton towels; massage shower
heads; deluxe bathrobes; salon-quality hair dryers; complimentary fresh
fruit basket and floral arrangement; flat-panel TVs and DVD players.
- Suites. In addition to the above, suites now offer luxurious
duvets and pillows; fully-stocked no-host mini-bars; access to Neptune
Lounge (for PS & S category guests) - the ship's private lounge
retreat; priority embarkation/debarkation privileges.
- Greenhouse Spa & Salon. More treatment rooms, including
couples massage rooms; dry-float suite; thermal suites with hydro-therapy
pool; heated ceramic loungers; Lifestyle Fitness Center with yoga, Pilates,
spinning and the latest in weight-training equipment.
- Culinary Arts Center. A demonstration "kitchen-in-a-theater"
with large, overhead plasma screens provides a venue for free cooking
demonstrations and culinary seminars. A program of special, culinary
cruises features regional chefs and wine experts. Optional, interactive
cooking classes are also available.
- Explorations Café. Powered by The New York Times,
this venue combines an espresso coffee house with a library. Music listening
stations, a 2,000-volume library, Internet stations, and special travel-related
TV programming are available.
- Expanded Youth Facilities. Kids and teens have never had it
better on Holland America! Big-screen TV and games; Oasis teen area
with outdoor private pool and waterfall, sundeck; disco; expanded Club
HAL hours.
- Pinnacle Grill. Holland America's intimate, reservations-only
restaurant featuring Sterling Silver beef, fresh seafood; tables set
with Bvlgari® china, Riedel® stemware and Frette® linens;
extensive wine list.
