Untitled Document
"You can sleep when you get home." So read the
Royal Caribbean press releases and brochures. And despite the cabin comforts
aboard the Jewel of the Seas, fourth in their series of ultra-popular 90,000-ton
liners, it's true - the folks at Royal Caribbean do all they can to entice
you out of those cabins. Here's a sampling of enticements aboard the Jewel
of the Seas guaranteed to make your cabin feel lonely:
- Specialty dining choices. You've got the always-casual Seaview
Café, the mouth-watering steaks from Chops Grille or the intimate
dining setting and Italian cuisine of Portofino. These, in addition
to the two-level main dining room with cascading waterfall, the Windjammer
Café for on-the-go dining and the wandering food carts of the
"Midnight Delight." And if you must remain in your room? 24-hour
room service!
- Lounges, bars, theaters and cabarets. From the four, distinct
venues at Colony Club - including The Game Reserves with its self-leveling
pool tables - to the top-of-the-ship Viking Crown Lounge and at least
a half dozen other options, you've got more entertainment choices aboard
than most towns ashore! And if you must remain in your room? Data port
hook ups for your laptop so you can entertain yourself communicating
with the office you left behind.
- Sports & Fitness. Where is it written that cruise passengers
must gain weight on their cruise? Though there're plenty of places to
put on the pounds, there're plenty more to take them off - the rock
climbing wall for starters. Plus, the enormous, two-level ShipShape
Fitness Center, a sports court, golf simulators and putting green, a
jogging track, and one of the most adventurous list of shore excursion
activities (kayaking, hiking, diving, rafting) found anywhere. And if
you must remain in your room? Push-ups, crunches and jumping jacks -
your cabin is plenty big enough!
- Kid's Activities. Your kids will find the cabin useful for
one thing - sleeping. And that sleep will be deep, what with all the
daytime calorie-burners and attention-getters the Jewel has in store.
"Adventure Ocean," Royal Caribbean's terrific kids program,
mixes entertainment with education with four, age-specific groupings.
The little ones have their finger-painting and games; the teens have
their 'disco' and pool! And if they must remain in the room? There's
the TV with Discovery Channel®, first-run movies and satellite programming
with children's shows.
- The Ocean. No matter how comfortable your cabin may be, there's
the lure of the ocean - the views out to sea. If your cabin is on Deck
7, 8, 9 or 10, chances are you have a private balcony outside that glass
door. But wherever you are onboard the Jewel you're only steps from
a sea view. Glass elevators, glass walls, a glass solarium and acres
of open deck space offer an open, airy feeling throughout. And if you
must remain in your cabin? Watch TV - there's a Bridge-mounted camera
pointed out to sea!

- All ages but particularly popular with families and couples
- Newlyweds, groups, and special occasions such family reunions
- Active, "Get Out There" passengers
|
- Passengers seeking total, uncompromised luxury. The Jewel of the
Seas, though decidedly "upscale" in facilities and atmosphere,
offers a mainstream cruise experience.
- Passengers who insist on ultra-flexible dining. The Jewel offers the
traditional style of dining with assigned dining times and tables. Still,
there are plenty of alternative dining options to mix up the dining
experience.
